| Biography |
Leonore has lived in Tucson, Arizona
since 1992. She began painting in 1962, taking classes in oil painting, water color, and
pastels. In the 1970's she discovered acrylic painting and found this to be her
"happy medium". Since becoming a Tusconan, she has taken art classes at Pima
College and has studied with a Tucson native and retired art teacher. In addition, there
were courses in sketching and colored pencil at Tohono Chul park. She spent a month in
British Columbia, Canada, at an intensive Artists Workshop, working with mixed media such
as ink, pencils and pastels, many of which were in abstract form. Leonore's art has been
exhibited at Kaleidoscope Gallery, the Jewish Community Center, Home on the Range, Legacy,
St. Phillips Murphy Gallery, Bon Vivant Gallery and numerous other locations. Recently,
she won an award at the Pima County Fair. She is a member of the League of Fine Arts.
Mostly, her paintings are inspired by nature, but she has also branched out to many
diversified Southwest subjects and has found this to be a delightful challenge. Where
feasible, she tries to incorporate her favorite colors, hues of purples, blues and pinks
into her artwork.
